i'm such a slacker

i've failed again at attempting to keep my blog alive!!!
i guess 3 jobs was a bit too much for me to handle. So I had to let one go. Sadly I gave up my position at Joann's fabric. I still visit every week though!

i'm loving my new job. I love the small business atmosphere. That i get paid to make fat quarters and sew. I get to talk to very talented people. And mostly, i get a pretty nice discount. Just pay me in product!!!!
I've made so many new friends. I also run the Byrne Sewing Connection's facebook page . so if you get a chance, check out what we have to offer.

My new year's goal is to push myself more with my sewing. The sewing room is finally getting comfortable. i think i arranged it to my liking. if i could only keep it clean!

Even better!!!

Again, I've been avoiding my Blog... but it's for a good reason... remember i said i got a Bernina 350?? Well, the owner of the place I bought it from personally called me and offered me a job! Now i have 3 jobs! i work for my boyfriend's auto mechanic shop, Joann's fabric and now i work for Byrne Sewing Connection! I've been there for the last 3 weeks and love it. The ladies (and gentlemen) who work there are so knowledgeable and i'm so excited to get to learn so much from them all. I got a chance to meet Paula Reid yesterday from Batts In The Attic who was teaching a "fluff and stuff" class. It was amazing to see 20 ladies all busy working on brother machines.
now i'm even more inspired then before. i love that my bosses and fellow coworkers push me in the creative direction and get me to try things i haven't done before. i'm so excited to share all my new projects. (if i get some time to actually sit down and work on the projects!!)

hmmm

I haven't been able to get into the sewing room lately. battling my moods has been a struggle lately. Not being able to relate to people and why they can't be pleasant is mind boggling to me. I feel like asking, "do you have religion in your life?" isn't the general guideline to all religion to treat others the way you want to be treated? Do people forget that?
it's why i'm a hermit and why i enjoy my time by myself. I like the meditation.
I also have this pattern for a bathrobe I promised my Aunt. I finally cut it out and sewed some of it.. I refuse to start anything else till i finish it. maybe this week? i hope. I don't know why i dislike this project so much.
And the thoughts of a new job offering is exciting.

rain day

so it's incredibly nasty outside today. I was suppose to go to lunch with my Aunt for her Birthday but there's down pours, flooding and lightening. So instead i will stay in and work on a bathrobe for her and my quilt!

so i don't have much to talk about but i have lots of photos to show. I've been busy trying to piece all my 6.5 inch squares together. Jim (my cat) has been helping... more like he doesn't like me quilting. he often gets in the way of whatever i'm making. Like these photos:

but how could you get mad at that cute little face?!?!
finished the top of my "cat time in the garden" quilt. now i just have to do side border and the back! Then i can sandwich it together and quilt!!!

And the Garden is becoming over grown. The tomatoes are going crazy!!!

my Zucchini and cucumbers! i started them late in the season but can't wait to have things to jar and lots of zucchini bread!

got some books! i only glanced at my sewing book but can already tell it's going to be a good addition to my craft studio. The pictures are clear and the wording is fantastic!

that's about it though, nothing too exciting this week. Happy crafting all. i'll see you soon!

Changes

finished on my Dinning room table.
So After getting settled in the basement, my boyfriend's Children decided to move out, leaving us with two empty bedrooms!!! So of course i moved my studio upstairs to the front bedroom. To be honest I hated the basement. Our junk wasn't very organized which would distract me from wanting to create and make me think about how to solve that issue. Then there was the not being able to hear anyone knocking at the door, the lack of cell phone reception and having to climb the steps to the kitchen. Needless to say i wasn't going into the basement very often. I happened to finish a few things while i was down there though.
I made a table runner for myself as my first official quilting project on my Bernina 350. I'm really happy with the way it turned out. I also messed around and made placemats for my Grandmom.
details
The back of the table runner.
Made Grandmom some placemats!
So like I said, I had the opportunity to move the studio upstairs.... And so i did. The first day the kids were out, i cleaned up the junk they left behind and threw it into the new "guest" room. Moved the dresser into my bedroom (first time in 3-4 years to actually have a dresser in the room, too bad it's full of my boyfriend's clothes haha)
The mess the kids left me. i threw it all in bags and tossed it into the guest room.
then cleaned the space up! And brought what i could upstairs.

Jim of Course Is enjoying the new space. He loves sitting at the window watching squirrels, birds and cars go by. ahh to live the life of a cat.
And i'm currently working on my first quilt! I'm going to call it "Cat time in the Garden"
I think i may border it with a Gray but i'll piece what i have and decide from then on.
And now that i'm comfortable in my studio i hope to be posting more on what i actually make!

Oh WAIT! Before you go! i did make something in the new studio! I belong to a CSA (What is known as a "City Shared Agriculture" i pay into a share at a farm) and needed bags to pick my produce in. So with the help of Sew Mama Sew , I made these awesome produce bags!! They're awesome and i couldn't be happier. I enjoy making them and using them to pick up the different produce i get.

love my veggie prints... see, i hoarded my fabric for a reason... ;)

this and that

So it's been quite the experience messing around with the Bernina350.
I kind of feel like I'm starting all over again. So I've been doodling around with zipper bags!

Also got brave a tried out my "walking foot". I absolutely love it. I use it more than i use any of the other feet that came with my machine. so i tested out a pot holder.

This is Jim, my cat. He likes to get in my stuff like my ribbon and yarn. he has now adopted that skein of yarn as his own... which is fine.. because no one wants something that smells like cat breath...

I also decided to design my own tri-fold wallet. This was my first result. made a pattern with some old paper bags. Made some black and white stripped binding..

 Got to quilt again!

so i learned why i don't like magnetic snaps. they're not meant for sewing close to. that's for sure. I prefer the Anorak snap instead. Which i used for the cute little bags below.

cause who doesn't like a star wars bag for money?

Newwer Beginnings

so I think i may have an excuse to actually write in my Blog now.
Let's catch up shall we?
I used to live in a shoe box where my "studio" was a quarter of the living room.
BEFORE ^
And then we moved to a bigger place with a basement! the basement is now my new studio! And this is what it looks like:

So since i upgraded my sewing studio... i also upgraded my Sewing machine from a singer 2662 to a Bernini 350. I am in love. It is an absolute step up. went from having a lemon to a Lexus!!

you've guested it! i sew! I've dabbled in just about everything from jewelry making, polymer clay, knitting, scrap booking, and so on. i love all things crafty.
so hopefully this blog will meant to record the new beginnings with my new studio and new machine!
i can't wait to share what i make with you!
